Who we are

Our mission is to address the impact of poverty by providing practical support, care and compassion to the most vulnerable in our city.

Care Zone began back in 2000 with a group of people from KingsGate Community Church who saw a need in the community and wanted to make a difference. Over the years, Care Zone has grown from strength to strength and we’ve had the privilege of serving thousands of people in our community. We remain committed to providing a safe, caring environment, and offer respect and dignity to all who visit us.

There's always lots of fun and laughter within the team. 16 years ago Care Zone was just a thought. It’s wonderful to see where we are today.

— Janie Bingham, Care Zone Founder

What we do

We tackle our mission in four ways:

Provision
We provide good quality furniture, household items and baby equipment at no cost, through recycling donated goods from the public. We also offer regular showers, clean clothes, and hot drinks to homeless people in our community and signpost them to housing services.

Restoration
We provide enriching work placements and training opportunities for people who may be socially excluded, to help increase their employability.

Volunteering
We offer meaningful volunteering opportunities to local people who want to make a positive contribution to their community.
