Our Story So Far

  • 1988

    Dave and Karen left Oxford and moved to Peterborough, where they felt a call to build a local church that would impact the city, the region, the nation, and beyond.

  • Early days

    We held our first meeting, where nine people gathered together in Dave and Karen’s living room.

  • 1988–2006 - A home of our own

    As the church grew, we rented venues across the city of Peterborough. In 2006, after several years of praying, planning, and incredible sacrificial giving, the Peterborough congregation moved into a brand-new, purpose-built facility.

  • 2010 - Cambridge calling

    We launched our KingsGate Cambridge campus. Led by Campus Pastor Chris Sharman, who moved to Cambridge as a student, the congregation continues to grow.

  • 2014 - Leicester location

    We launched our third campus in Leicester. Led by Campus Pastor Josh Gardiner, who was born and raised in the city, it’s a thriving, diverse congregation.

  • 2018 - A big birthday

    We celebrated our 30-year anniversary as a church and looked back at the amazing story of God’s faithfulness so far.

  • 2021 - Online campus

    After moving our services online in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we launched our KingsGate Online campus. Now anyone, anywhere can be part of KingsGate!
