How much does Alpha cost?
It's completely free! This includes food served at the Launch Party, refreshments throughout, and resources provided during the weekly sessions.
Do I need to pre-book?
Tickets are free, but yes you’ll need to register on our website for the Launch Party and the course separately.
Do I have to attend the Launch Party AND the Alpha Course?
Nope! We would encourage you to come along if you can, as we anticipate it will be a fun evening together, but it’s not imperative to you registering for the course.
Equally, you can just come to the Launch Party if you’d like to get a flavour of what Alpha’s all about – there’s no pressure at all.
Do I have to come to every session of the course?
If you decide to join the course, we encourage you to come to as many as possible to get the full picture. However, we know life happens. You are welcome to attend even if you need to miss one or two weeks. There's no obligation to attend the full course.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes! Please do. Alpha is always better with a friend. Just make sure they register too so that we know they’re coming.
Is there childcare provided?
Unfortunately, there is no provision for childcare – the Alpha Launch Party and courses are for those aged 18+.
But I’m not a Christian – is it okay for me to come to Alpha?
Absolutely! Alpha is open to everyone, regardless of what you believe or your background, and it’s especially tailored to help those who are curious about faith. If that’s you, we would LOVE you to join us. There’s no pressure to participate in anything you don’t want to engage with – just come as you are. We look forward to welcoming you!
Am I allowed to disagree or ask tough questions?
Yes! In fact, we encourage it. Alpha is a space for honest enquiry and dialogue. You can ask the most challenging questions you have. There are no forbidden topics and no pressure to accept anything you hear.
Is the discussion confidential?
Your small group is a safe space for open and honest discussion. We ask that everyone respects the privacy of others and keeps all personal sharing within the group. Group hosts would however need to pass on any safeguarding causes for concern, if these were conveyed during what would otherwise be confidential conversations.
What happens after Alpha finishes?
The choice is entirely yours. There is no follow-up or pressure to come to KingsGate during or after Alpha, though you would be so welcome. Many people find Alpha is the perfect place to get answers and feel ready to explore the next steps in their personal faith journey. Others are simply grateful for the experience and friendships, and that's fine too.
Do I need to know anything in advance?
Not at all! Alpha starts at square one. All materials and concepts are introduced very simply, with the aim of being accessible to all.
Is Alpha fully accessible?
Absolutely! We welcome anyone with accessibility requirements and will endeavour to accommodate any needs you may have.
I have a different question – how can I get in contact?
If you have any further questions, please email us on info@kingsgate.church and one of our team will get back to you.
