Week 3
WorshiPping the Overcoming King
(Revelation 4-5)
After hearing what the Spirit says to the seven churches, chapters 4 and 5 of Revelation now invite John to look again, this time, up. He is drawn into heaven’s throne room, where worship never stops, with Jesus at the centre.
This final week lifts our eyes to the throne and roots our overcoming life in adoration rather than anxiety, in victory rather than fear. What fuels endurance and obedience? Worship. What silences the chaos of the world? The sight of Jesus, the Lamb who was slain and who now reigns with all authority and power.
These two chapters are so rich, with many layers of imagery to meditate on. It’s worth noting that these moments are not to be understood as our final eternal expression of worship – that comes later in the book of Revelation. Instead, this is a picture of the worship in heaven in the here and now.
